Welcome to the Placer County Schutzhund Club website!

We are a group of individuals brought together by a common interest in the sport of Schutzhund. As a club and as individuals we are dedicated to advancing our training knowledge and handling skills. We are also devoted to the preservation of working dog breeds, and support the use of working dogs by police, search and rescue, and other working venues.

Our training start times will depend on helper availability and weather conditions.

Members and potential members of PCSC must be committed to training ALL THREE PHASES of the sport. This is a challenging and time-consuming sport, and we firmly believe that the amount of time each individual devotes to training their dog directly correlates to their success as a team.

What is Schutzhund?

Schutzhund (now called "IPO") is a rigorous 3-phase sport that was originally designed as a breedworthiness test for the German Shepherd Dog. However, the sport is open to any breed of dog (or mixed breed) that shows the aptitude for it. Schutzhund consists of a tracking phase, obedience phase, and protection phase. The dog and handler must pass all three phases in order to earn their working title.  Read More >
