A dedicated group of Schutzhund enthusiasts established Placer County Schutzhund Club in 1996 at the home field of Handler/Trainer John Riboni in Loomis, California. Club by-laws we set according to the guidelines dictated by the United Schutzhund Club of America and training began. While the majority of members own German Shepherd dogs the club is open to all breeds.

Enthusiasm and comradery ran high when member, Juliana Schiesari with her German Shepherd dog, Max Vom Leerburg, participated in the 1997 USA Schutzhund Nationals. This initiated the membership’s high motivation to be the best they can be. When the 1999 Nationals came to Reno, Nevada, three PCSC members participated: Jim Lempner with Laro von der Dollenwiese, Jim Glauz with Nadia vom Eisfeld and John Riboni with Bingo von der Abfuhr, all German Shepherd dogs. PCSC was on the competition map!

Beginning in 2001 PCSC obtained use of a “club house” building on Fiddyment Road in Lincoln and rent the adjoining section of ground where they have established a Schutzhund field the size of a football stadium. Members set fence, installed field lighting, planted trees and shrubbery, installed a sprinkler system and managed to train their dogs for Schutzhund titles. While these tasks were taking form, founding members John Riboni with Bingo von der Abfuhr, and Jim Lempner with Mucke vom Haus Vortkamp and Laro von der Dollenwiese managed to be USA World Team members multiple times.

Through the years the club has grown and provided a place for its members to learn and show their strengths and commitment to the sport, mostly behind the scenes. We could not exist without the committed members and their hard work. Their commitment to the club has allowed many to compete at higher levels.

Highlight of the year is “Dogstock” a two-day training event, usually held in June, which offers multiple helper training. The “Protection tournament”, and fastest dog event punctuate Saturday evening.

Potential members, including juniors, are welcome to train as guests for evaluation of both dog and handler, and to get a feel for the work Schutzhund training requires.

PCSC encourages you to review our web site, click on our Links, and ask yourself, “Am I committed to giving the time it takes to succeed in this wonderful sport”?
